Seaboard
is continuing its pre-release production and is well on its way to
becoming a very major force in the comics industry.
The
current staff shapes up like this: Editors Jeff Rovin (who will be
editing twelve new color titles) and Larry Lieber (who will be editing
an additional six color comics); Steve Mitchell, who will be both production
manager and art director of the line; these writers and artists (who
will be working on the color line) -- Frank Thorne, Howie Chaykin,
Steve Ditko, Sal Amendola, Steve Skeates, Jerry Siegel (of Siegel and
Shuster), Larry Hama, Al Milgrom, Jack Abel, Jeff Rovin, Mike Fleisher,
Steve Mitchell, Pat Broderick, and Mike Grell (he's tentative). The
black and white line, which will start off with five titles but will
eventually increase, has the following artists and writers lined up:
Archie Goodwin, Walt Simonson, Mike Ploog, Ernie Colon, Wally Wood,
Jack Sparling, Mike Kaluta, Leo Sommers, Ralph Reese, Marty Pasko,
Ramon Torrents and a host of artisans from Spain.
We are still held up from revealing any titles because
of copyright technicalities -- however, one of the characters is depicted below
as conceived by editor Larry Lieber. We don't know the name of this character -- or
any of the others for that matter, but it will take some hard work
to make this line fail, in any case.
