This issue was my first exposure to Atlas, and I found it to be great. I thought the rough, rugged art style suited the theme of the book incredibly well, and although there was little dialogue, I didn't feel as though I was missing any of the story because of it. I thought the scene where Wulf cleaves Sanjon's face in half is easily one of the most horrifying introductions of a villian I've EVER seen.

On Tuesday, I drove 70 miles one way to pick up Atlas from the only place I found near to me that had Atlas Comics. I got there and found that he only had ONE copy of Wulf #1 and no others. It was worth the ride though as this book totally satisfied me for my first read through of an entire new Atlas book.

I liked the story, the brutality and the nicely drawn art. Just a professional job if you ask me. Constructive criticism here in that there could have been more words on paper to describe what was going on. Not that I was lost at any time but more illustrative text would have gone a long ways, giving even MORE quality to the book.

I am very pleased with Wulf #1 and look forward to #2 and #3.

I personally think that the text was just the right amount in my humble opinion, let the artwork paint the scene. The vista on pages 2-3 (I think, might be 4-5) where Wulf is watching the meteor's rain down on his homeland? That stuff is powerful imagery, would've been spoiled with any words on there.

Like you, I'm eagerly awaiting #2 and #3, althought they're almost 2 months away for me! (curse me for living on the other side of the world!)

See, that is where I get picky... even with bigger named artists because those holes were too perfect, IMO. No debris around those perfect holes ? What happened to the displaced earth ? And again this is ONLY my worthless opinion here but I think that the writer should be the one painting the scene... I have read comic scripts where they read like a book and the artist tries to relate that to art. I like it to take longer than 6 minutes to read a comic book and more along the lines of 20 minutes because I am a reader not a looker.

Wulf is on the top of my reading list and I have read it six times now but ahh, that again is my point... a book with more wording/dialogue would not allow me the time to read it 6 times.

Please do not get me wrong, I am CRAZY excited about these new books/old books... I have LOVED Atlas Comics for YEARS and they hold a VERY special place for me... but I am not going to fall all over myself just because there are books with the words Wulf, The Grim Ghost or Phoenix on the cover. I call 'em like I see 'em and as these are important books to me, I only want the best for them. This is a good review for me with only a 'I wish it had...' in it. Same thing goes for the new Dark Horse reimagining of Solar, Magnus, Turok and Samson. WILDLY happy about their return as I am with Jim Shooter's return to comics but I am not so much the fanboy that I do cartwheels just because I have waited so long for Jim to write and then on top of that, write characters that I have waited even longer to see in print again.

I want to be blown away by the comics I read... the ash-n-trash that is out there today has not gone over well with me, so I think that my standards are being raised. Wulf is a VERY good book and being able to see the next two covers to all the issues is a good sign, I am just putting out there what I think would make it better.

Hey, nothing wrong with constructive criticism mate :P It's all good, and yes, there are ALWAYS things that can be done better.

Wulf was my favorite book of the relaunched titles although they were all great. I cannot wait for Iron Jaw to return in a few months - how awesome!
