I felt this title (especially the great second issue) deserved a thread...what's YOUR favorite story from the 2 issues?

:D

The second issue is considered by many to be one of the best B & W magazines ever produced. Look at the talent on that issue -

a Neal Adams cover
an Archie Goodwin/Walter Simonson samuari story
and work by Jack Sparling, Russ Heath, John Severin and Alex Toth.

My favorite is the Temple of the Spider by Goodwin and Simonson.

Phil

Phil: That's one of my faves as well. Walt Simonson said once he felt that was the finest work he'd done. Also dug "A Job Well Done" --Toth's wash art was superb! So much good stuff in that second issue.

Mark: do yourself a favor and especially hunt down #2...you'll love it!

Comic magazines can be a hard to find I mean it took me over ten years to find Epic Illustrated #9 and #15 and those were published in the 80s.

It was a good title, and I recall comics dealers telling us that #2(?) had "low distribution," a typical Overstreet phrase to suggest added collector value. Was this actually true or was it a comic-dealer scam?

I wouldn't be surprised if both were true.

Most comic book magazines from the 70 and 80s (and most treasury-sized books as well) aren't easy to find due to their size and demand for them is from what I dealt with is inconsistent some magazines are in always in demand, while others are not and some depend on other factors (like if a popular creators did a story/art in an issue, if a character that debuted in a magazine is getting revived by a popular creators or a popular storyline is getting reprinted, getting a sequel, is getting finished, etc). Most LCS around where I live that would carry them the magazines aren't the best of condition (most are VG at best) and some aren't even bagged and boarded (those issues of Epic Illustrated I mentioned above were like that).
