True. But it's in Baltimore. :poke

JC - On a serious note, with My Secret being listed in Overstreet, will we see Movie Monsters listed in this year's guide?

Phil

I don't know what Bob has done about that. I won't until I get down to proofing in a couple of weeks. Mark knows at this point, but he'll never talk. :fh

Much like the Vicki comics, I don't feel the need to have those two titles in my collection. I'm snotty like that. :l

Is Gothic Romances really going for that much?? I may have a copy--I bought it new and was disappointed there were no comics involved. Movie Monsters wasn't bad: almost every monster magazine was at knockoff of FM, but some (Castle Of Frankenstein) were superb in their own way. I had cover artist Greg Theakston sign my copy of #1 many years back, but I don't recall getting any of the other issues.

Oops, looking at MM covers, I also got #2 back then. I still think there's a market for monster mags; kids still love the classic monsters more than the brutal gore stuff, which I'm guessing is why Fangoria had such editorial flaws and quirkiness. It's also easier to sell that sort of thing, and I'm hoping for a return to that format of horror film, as it works so well when done properly.

Hey bud, don't forget the half nekkid chicks, those ALWAYS go over big with the kids, ESPECIALLY if you mix nekkid chicks with monsters and brutal gore. ;)

(thinking I am still a kid... a big kid, cause I likes da wimmin')

A bit of funny background in the research of Movie Monsters came about several years after collector Jon Berk authored the first Atlas-Seaboard checklist in Overstreet's Golden Age & Silver Age Quarterly. His version had 67 issues, including a question mark after Movie Monsters #1 (and no listing for the others). Now to my mind, I had never seen in, and neither had either of my collaborators on the revision, Mike Wilbur and Michael Naiman. Then, as we were putting the revised checklist together, I saw the cover image. Not only could I confirm immediately that existed, I remembered passing it up repeatedly at the little store where I bought my comics as a kid.

That led to us quickly being able to find the other issues and Gothic Romance, which is how they got added to the checklist. That, in turn, led to the addition of My Secret.

JC, I am not entirely sure what any of this means and it didn't say anything about nekkid' chicks but I am sure it is really awesome information.
