I would like to welcome Atlas Original Publisher Jason Goodman (J G Atlas) :yah to the Atlas Archives Message Board. I've set up this thread so that you can ask Jason any questions you have regarding Atlas Comics. Please keep all your questions in this thread rather than starting new ones.

I'll start it off....

Unfortunately, all 3 titles have experienced delays of some sort. What steps (if any) are being taken to prevent this or is this something that is totally out of your control. When do you think the first story arcs will wrap up?

Welcome to the Boards and thanks to everyone at Atlas/Ardden for putting out some great books!

--Phil

So, Mr. Goodman, if you don't mind a personal question . . .

I know you're Martin Goodman's grandson, which would make you Chip's son and Martin's grandson Aaron is your cousin, so . . .

Would you mind relating the Goodman Family Tree for those who, like myself, are curious about this sort of thing?

Hi Jason,

With the recent success of comic book stories and characters in visual media (tv and movies), are there any plans for Atlas to move their characters to either tv or movies? If so, which character is most likely to get the superstar treatment first?

Also, another one if I may, will you be looking to move in to more merchandise? We've already seen Atlas t-shirts, notebooks and even the Grim Ghost statue, are there any plans to expand this line any time soon?

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the warm welcome - I am very excited to finally be a part of the Atlas Archives Message Board!

Also, thanks for doing such a wonderful job on this site for all these years. Over the years, it has helped me in meetings and presentation as well as general research - and it is still a valuable resource today!

Hi to everybody else too! Thanks for the support, comments, questions, and for being interested in ATLAS. I look forward to getting to know you.

To Phil's opening question.....

Yes, our original release schedule has encountered many delays - causing my usually pleasant (and even) demeanor to vacillate between resigned exasperation and apoplectic rage. Thankfully, the circumstances that contributed to our lateness are largely solvable.

Many things contributed to the lateness, but the failure on my part was not to anticipate that people get sick or injured, have family obligations, have other professional obligations that compete with ATLAS for a creator's time. etc....

My plan to improve going forward is multi pronged and, now, seemingly obvious: get a few scripts and a chunk of art in the can before a story arc starts, have a more thorough understanding of my creators' other obligations, make a schedule with enough cushions built in that we can withstand a hiccup without getting far off, and, in a pinch, start writing and learn how to draw :)

I expect the 1st arcs to wrap up between October and year-end. GRIM GHOST finishing first with PHOENIX & WULF following. The TPB's should start before year end too.

ATLAS UNIFIED will debut at NYCC (where I hope to see many of you) this year with issue #0. We are very excited and I know you will be too!

Much, much more to follow!

All the best!

Jason

P.S. Phil, did you already post the PHX #4 B & White preview and the WULF #3 preview pages? If so, great! If not, please post, or show me how. THANKS!

Mr. Goodman,

Glad to see you here! I'm actually here because of you! I sent you a suggestion about putting a message board @ the Atlas site, and you sent me here! By the way, thanks for the packages of Comic Books! You guys are doing a great job, the books are fantastic! My pull @ my local shop includes anything Atlas, including the old stuff from "Back in the day." ( I scored a GG#1 and a Wulf #1 last week!)

It's nice to see that the people who Make the comics care enough to come to the message board. Trust me, that is not the case on a lot of boards. I've always been impressed by the fact that you actually respond to my mail, and that in your responses, you actually answer my questions.

I'm on board and preaching the word to anyone who will listen. I wish you and your company all the best!

Hi Rod G,

Thanks for your interest in the Goodman family tree. I don't wish to name everybody, as not all of my relatives have chosen to be know for their relation to Marvel's founder. I will say that Grandpa had 3 children - Dad, his older brother and his younger sister. I am an only child, and I have many cousins - Aaron included. As far as any involvement in magazine & comic publishing, it's just Grandpa, Dad & Me. Oh, and my cousins Stan & Larry, but I'm sure you knew that already :D :D .

All the best!

Jason
